Turkey is a great alternative to beef, but sometimes it can be bland or a little sweet. I have found that to get the texture and flavor to resemble beef, you must use an increased quantity and variety of spices. So here is my spicy turkey,“pavo picante”, recipe.

ree

Sauté:

½ chopped Red Onion

½ Red Pepper

3 TBS Avocado Oil

Add:

1 lb Ground Turkey

Cook until there is no pink in the meat.

Add Spices:

1 pkg. Taco Seasoning ( I used McCormick)

1 Tbsp Chili powder

½ tsp Cumin

½ tsp Cayenne Pepper

¼ tsp Garlic Salt

Cook until spices are absorbed.

Add:

Juice from 1 large lime and stir for 1 minute.

Serve in lettuce leaves as an alternative taco or serve with soft, runny eggs, fried, or poached. I fried my egg in Avocado oil which added a nice buttery flavor. Disfrutar!

P.S

Disfrutar=Enjoy in Spanish.
