Let Your Lips Do the Talking...So to Speak 6/28/21

This past week Bobby and I celebrated my 61st birthday. Of course, I wanted to look many years less than sixty-one, however, that is a challenge that would need a professional makeup artist...so I found just what and who I needed...

To prepare for my birthday date, I decided to give myself the at-home spa treatment. Why not a weekly at-home spa?! Luxuriating in a bath with eucalyptus, rose, cucumber, or coconut Epsom salt and oils fills the room with a fragrance that feels like decadence for the soul. Come on, don't we all deserve a bit of "Calgon Take Me Away" in a more modern semblance?

In the past I have shared my fondness for the Dermalogica rapid reveal peel, so I indulged. While the mask was on my face I used a new product, Sara Happ lip scrub exfoliant on my lips. The scrub has a lemonade scent and sugary flavor, BTW it is not a dessert, but it was on my lips so I couldn't help but taste that sweet lemonade. A whiff of this scrub transported me back to my teen years, lemon drop candies and I was beginning to feel my youth return, in some small way. All of this and more, while I soaked in the tub and listened to Mary Chapin Carpenter's Passionate Kisses coming from one of my favorite bluetooth speakers, Klipsch. After all, the look of the night was focused on lips.

After the treatments and the relaxation; my face, lips, and body felt great! Since I had used the peel, I decided to just moisturize with Tula Calming Moisturizer, and forgo the foundation. I kept my makeup simple, and I used Hindash lip technique from the 11:13-12:00 minute segment of his video. This was a new technique for me, and I have to say I think my lips looked fuller and more attractive. The true test of the evening was when both my husband and my 22-year-old stepdaughter commented on my lips. Audrey really liked the color and volume, so I will share the colors and products with you. I used a Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon, On the Grind 105 and Lipstick Queen, Saint Pinky Nude. I love, love, love the Lipstick Queen products, because they feel like they are conditioning my lips.

However, more than anything, I loved the kisses that came later from that green-eyed devil in the photo. Who needs to be any younger? “Not I,” says me.
